Discover a Muse Book!

November 29, 2010

I found out yesterday via Jon Schindehette’s blog that the Discover a Muse book is out! The steampunk pirate captain from my main gallery is one of the illustrations featured in the book, and the rest of the images are even better! πŸ™‚ The best part of the whole project is that 100% of the profits from the sale of the book will go to the Discovery Arts charity.

The model is Veronika Kotlajic, and the reference photo was taken by Scott Caywood. Textures from Inthename-stock, Princess-of-Shadows, CGtextures, Mayang and Bittbox.

And here’s another Sketchbook Project page: hermit crab and anemone.

So awesome Chels!! You know that is one of my favorite illustrations & Dan’s favorite. I will definitely be purchasing the book. Autographed, of course πŸ˜‰

Aw, thanks. One of the cool things about the Sketchbook Project is that everyone has to send their completed books back and they go into a traveling show around the country. I also paid a bit extra to get my whole sketchbook professionally scanned and added to their digital archives as well.I figure their scans will be a lot nicer than mine.

Oh and thanks for the tips on watercolors and gouache! Yeah, Grandpa’s and your mom’s skills with watercolors definitely make it an intimidating medium. πŸ˜‰

I have the same problem. I’ve had to block out some time every day to work on a page, since I don’t normally sketch every day.
